Database Administrator – MSSQL
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define, document and clearly articulate the standards, best practices and technology decisions to the stakeholders, management and development team
- Own the responsibility of bringing the suitable technology and tools and implementing them as and when required
- Continuously monitor performance and health of the client databases in order to provide optimum database throughput to end users
- Provide technical guidance and thought leadership to tech leads and developers when carrying schema changes, designing new modules/applications and upgrading databases new versions/platforms
- Concern with backups, security, patches and replication on production environments
- Design schemas, builds tables indexes, data structures and relationships for existing and newly built applications
- Provide optimum TSQL queries for applications and reports and frequently share statistics/reports with development team on table locks, expensive table joins and resource heavy queries
- Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS) and tools
- Maintain documentation on data dictionary (metadata), standards, best practices and definitions
- Control access permissions and privileges
- Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly on regular basis
