Job Description
The Assistant Lecturer plays a crucial role in supporting the educational environment by preparing classrooms, managing administrative tasks, and assisting with exam duties. This position requires timely preparation and a commitment to maintaining a productive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Preparation and Management:
Early Arrival:
- Arrive in the classroom 30 minutes prior to the scheduled lecture if not assigned other duties.
- Weekdays: 2:00 PM.
- Weekends: Saturdays (7:00 AM / 10.30 AM / 2:00 PM), Sundays (8:00 AM / 10.30 AM / 2:00 PM).
Class Room Setup:
- Switch on the air conditioning and play background music.
- Log in to the relevant Google Meet links as soon as you arrive in the classroom.
Administrative Tasks:
- Collect the attendance sheet from the front office.
- Collect student activity books (homework) and mark them before the lecture begins.
- Check and review dictation books, students' books, and writing copies.
Performance Monitoring:
- Update the performance summary sheets for students.
Mobile Phone Policy:
- Ensure that mobile phones are left at the front office before entering the classroom. Mobile phones should not be used during the lecture.
Exam Preparation:
- Paste student names and arrange separators by the time students arrive for the exam.
- Write down the exam outline as provided by the lecturer.
Assisting With Evaluation:
- Assist the lecturer in marking evaluation papers and other related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in English or Teaching with 3 years of experience; Higher National Diploma (HND) in English or Education with 1 year of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in English/TESOL
- Previous experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in using Google Meet and other digital tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Hours:
- Weekdays: 1.00 PM -5.45 PM OR 9.00 AM – 5.45
- Weekends: Depending on the assigned lecture time (7:30 AM / 11:00 AM / 2:30 PM on Saturdays; 8:00 AM / 11:00 AM / 2:30 PM on Sundays).
