Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the efficient, commercial, and scalable execution of tax engagements by coordinating workflows, managing delivery processes, and ensuring alignment between technical teams, client needs, and internal stakeholders. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in delivering operational excellence and supporting the International Business Leader in managing cross-border proposals and multinational engagements—while remaining distinct from technical tax responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the execution of tax engagements, managing timelines, deliverables, and internal workflows across jurisdictions.
- Support project tracking and resource planning, proactively identifying bottlenecks and facilitating resolution.
- Assist with engagement budgeting, WIP tracking, billing coordination, and demonstrate commercial awareness by actively monitoring profitability, fee alignment, and client satisfaction indicators.
- Facilitate collaboration between tax technical teams, operations, and client service stakeholders.
- Contribute to cross-border proposals by gathering inputs, aligning timelines, and compiling deliverables in support of the International Business Leader.
- Support the development of engagement templates, reporting dashboards, and best practice tools.
- Prepare internal progress reports on engagement status, delivery metrics, and client feedback.
- Coordinate non-technical client communication and scheduling, taking proactive ownership of engagement deliverables and day-to-day operations. Engage directly with clients to manage expectations, ensure responsiveness, and uphold service quality, while anticipating and resolving issues independently where possible.
- Manage and provide guidance to junior team members, including Associates and Senior Associates, to support their development and ensure high-quality engagement execution.
Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of professional services delivery models, especially in tax or consulting environments.
- Working knowledge of project management tools and client engagement lifecycles.
- Familiarity with tax service offerings and core concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and project tracking tools (e.g., ClickUp, or equivalent).
- Understanding of budgeting, WIP, billing, and financial metrics in a professional services context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
Competencies:
- Analytical Thinking, Project Coordination, Commercial Awareness, Stakeholder Management, Communication, Adaptability, and Attention to Detail.
Experience:
- 6 to 8 years of experience in tax operations, project coordination, or delivery support within a professional services firm
- Prior experience supporting cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization (preferably in tax, legal, or audit services).
- Exposure to budget tracking, WIP management, or commercial analysis is preferred.
- Experience in supporting practice development initiatives (e.g., process documentation, template creation, reporting dashboards) is an advantage.
- Experience in multi-jurisdictional engagements or international coordination is a strong advantage.
