Job Description
The Senior Manager - Marketing and Business Development will drive growth and strengthen the company's position in the logistics and supply chain industry. The role involves formulating and executing strategies to expand market share, develop new business opportunities, and oversee impactful marketing and branding initiatives. Responsibilities include nurturing key client relationships, conducting market research, negotiating high-value contracts and aligning initiatives with organizational goals. The Senior Manager will mentor the team, ensure performance against KPIs, and represent the company at industry events, enhancing visibility and positioning the organization as a trusted logistics partner.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute comprehensive business development strategies to expand the company's market share, drive revenue growth and strengthen its competitive position in the logistics and supply chain industry.
- Lead the identification, evaluation and pursuit of new business opportunities, partnerships and strategic alliances that align with the organization's long-term objectives.
- Develop and oversee marketing strategies, campaigns and branding initiatives that reinforce the company's market presence and support business growth objectives.
- Build, nurture and sustain strong relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders and decision-makers to enhance customer loyalty and secure repeated, long term business opportunities.
- Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs and potential risks and provide actionable insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including operations, finance and customer service - to ensure that business development initiatives are aligned with operational capacity and organizational goals.
- Drive the preparation and negotiation of high-value proposals, bids and contracts, ensuring terms are commercially viable and support long-term partnerships.
- Monitor the performance of marketing and business development initiatives against defined KPIs, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve optimal results.
- Provide regular reports and presentations to senior leadership, highlighting market developments, business opportunities and the progress of strategic initiatives.
- Ensure optimal budget utilization by monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue contributions and aligning business development efforts with financial objectives.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement in the marketing and business development function.
- Represent the company at industry forums, exhibitions and networking events to enhance corporate visibility, strengthen relationships and promote the organization as a preferred logistics partner.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree or equivalent qualifications in Marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- A relevant professional certification such as CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) or similar will be a strong advantage, reflecting advanced expertise in strategic marketing and business development.
- Minimum of 5 years proven managerial experience in leading marketing and business development teams with a track record of delivering growth, market expansion and client success.
- 10 years of progressive industry experience in logistics, supply chain management or related sectors with extensive exposure to both domestic and international markets.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret market intelligence, competitor activity and customer insights to craft innovative strategies that support long-term business growth.
- Proven track record in business development, client acquisition and revenue generation, including successful negotiations of high-value contracts and establishment of long term partnerships with key accounts.
- Exceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skills with the ability to influence senior executive levels, represent the organization with authority and secure buy-in from diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership capabilities including experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, mentoring staff and creating a high=performance culture that emphasizes accountability innovation and results.
- Ability to generate new sales to achieve budget targets while strategically developing and retaining long-term client relationships to drive sustainable business growth.
- Advance financial and commercial acumen with the ability to align marketing and business development initiatives with corporate revenue objectives, profitability targets and budgetary controls.
- High level of market awareness and adaptability with a strong focus on identifying growth opportunities, anticipating industry shifts and leveraging innovation and digital transformation to maintain competitive advantage.
