Job Description
The General Manager – Seeds Division will be responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end operations of the Seeds business. This includes procurement, production planning, inventory management, distribution, sales, and overall profitability. This role requires strong industry expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in achieving sales targets and managing P&L within the Seeds or Agri-input sector.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the overall business strategy for the Seeds Division.
- Drive growth, market share, and profitability in line with company objectives.
- Identify new market opportunities and expansion strategies.
- Oversee the entire value chain from seed procurement, production planning, inventory management, and logistics to final sales.
- Ensure efficient supply chain management and timely delivery to distributors and farmers.
- Maintain quality standards and regulatory compliance across operations.
- Lead and manage the sales team to achieve revenue and volume targets.
- Develop and execute effective sales and distribution strategies targeting farmers, dealers, and distributors.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.
- Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including distributors and farmer networks.
- Take full ownership of the division’s financial performance.
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
- Drive revenue growth while optimizing operational efficiency and margins.
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams including sales, operations, and supply chain.
- Build a high-performance culture with clear KPIs and accountability.
- Ensure effective manpower planning and capability development.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with senior management on business planning and decision-making.
- Engage with regulatory bodies and industry partners where necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Management, or a related field.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in the Seeds / Agriculture / Agri-input industry.
- Currently working as an Assistant General Manager / General Manager / Senior Leader in a similar domain.
- Strong experience in end-to-end business operations (ordering, supply chain, and sales to farmers).
- Proven track record in sales leadership and achieving targets.
- Hands-on experience in P&L management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking and business acumen.
- In-depth knowledge of the Seeds industry and distribution channels.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive results in a competitive market.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and decision-making ability.
