Job Description

The position is based in Colombo and calls for a candidate with strong qualifications or adequate experience in freight forwarding with proven leadership capability, good knowledge of international trade, and strong problem-solving and customer relationship skills. The role involves Ocean Freight Import procurement, Trade Lane Development, Pricing & business development.

The role also involves being part of the Ocean Import Commercial team, managing end-to-end import operations, negotiating rates, supporting business development objectives, support team training and performance, and ensuring effective customer relationship management maintaining service excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Ocean Freight Import procurement.
• Oversee day-to-day import operations.
• Contribute to business development efforts and support performance objectives for the division.
• Support training and development for team members and strengthen communication, skills, performance & culture.
• Manage customer relationships, resolve issues and disputes promptly to ensure operational continuity and service excellence.

Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management or 5 years' experience in the Freight Forwarding or Shipping industry.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership support role.
• Sound understanding of trade, shipping and freight forwarding & current industry trends.
• Problem-solving, decision-making and communication.
• Service-oriented mindset with strong focus on customer relationship development.
