Job Description
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales growth, managing customer relationships, and overseeing a team of sales representatives within a specific geographical area. The role includes strategic planning, developing and executing sales strategies, achieving sales targets, and ensuring the overall success of sales initiatives within the assigned region.
Reports To: Regional Sales Manager/Director- Sales.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve regional sales targets.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of sales representatives to maximize their performance and results.
- Conduct regular sales meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as necessary to meet goals.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients and prospects.
- Identify and address customer needs, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
- Negotiate contracts, close sales, and ensure timely delivery of products/services.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
- Prepare regular reports on market conditions, customer feedback, and sales performance.
- Sales Target Execution: Develop and implement regional sales strategies to achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual volume and revenue targets.
- Distributor & Channel Management: Recruit, manage, and expand the network of dealers and distributors. Oversee stock availability, forecast demand, and manage consignment stock to reduce idle inventory.
- Technical Support & Demonstrations: Provide agronomic advice to distributors, agents, and farmers. Organize field trials and product demonstrations to showcase the efficacy of crop protection and plant nutrition products.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a team of Sales Officers, agronomists, and promoters. Conduct performance evaluations and drive continuous skill development.
- Market Intelligence & Reporting: Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and market trends.
- Provide regular sales reports and pipeline forecasts to senior management.
- Credit Control: Manage accounts receivable, ensure timely collection of outstanding payments and minimizing bad debt.
